Coat of Arms

Coat of Arms of the Bishop of Dunedin

Bishop Colin Campbell's coat of arms was designed by his brother Bryan, a graphic artist and producer based in Invercargill.

Following specific guidelines for the features it must have, the shield and flag were chosen by the Bishop while the hat and tassels are a requirement denoting his ranking.

Bishop Campbell's coat of arms reflects the spirit of the region, with the Southern Cross and the Celtic Cross depicting the southern region and its Scottish and Irish background. The green fields of Southland and the mountains and rivers of both Southland and Otago bring together those attributes that are at the heart of the spirit of these regions.
